Talking Getting a mic modded by Michael Joly really soon!!

Its gear shopping time for album 2, first step is getting a good mic!

Just bought a Nady SCM800 and will be getting his "Sino-Russo" mod done to it, which involves installing a MK219 capsule and a Premium Electronics upgrade to the microphones guts.

I bought the mike for less than 48 dollars and the mod is 229 bux right now. For what its worth this is one hell of a deal.

I will put up some mp3s of vocal takes on an instrumental of un-modded and modded versions of the same mike.

Btw, just had a really cool conversation with Geoff Daking (hope I spelled it right) today and he gave me some really good advice for the recording of our second LP.

I can't afford his consoles, but his preamp strip looks juicy and comes highly reccommended from our mastering engineer. Apparently The Foo Fighters like Daking products, so Im going to be grabbing his preamp strip really soon as well.

Im hoping the combination of this Oktava mod mic and pre will be the next step in the right direction for our vocals, as well as the recording of drums, guitars and bass.

Peace
Illumination
