002R or Firestudio I currently have a Digi 002R and have recently been looking at replacing it with a Presonus Firestudio. Why you ask? Well I heard that the Presonus has better converters than the 002. Is this true? I currently have PT 7.3 & Logic Pro 7.2 and I don't have a problem dropping PT if I have to. Either interface I would eventually get the DigiMax FS, so I just want to get the better sounding Interface. Some facts and opinions would be greatly appriciated.

Neither units have great stock converters. However, you can get the 002R modded by BLA. Solution: Keep the 002R, and get the BLA mod.

Depends but feature for feature wise the firestudio is the winner, if you want to use ptle then the 002r takes the cake. Write and record good tunes and all this crap really won't matter a ton.

THanks for the input. I'm maybe looking at going to a more mobile rig, and the presonus looks really suited. I could always record in say Logic or Cubase while mobile then pull the audio in to PT at home or the mix. What do you think? Good Idea?

there were some concerns about getting an 002 modded and then using lightpipe. i don't think the 002 can be the master clock if lightpipe is activated? so basically part of the mod was pointless. straight out of the box the firestudio definitely takes the cake.
