| Which mic to add to my existing collection? Hi. I'm looking for a new mic to add to my existing collection for recording vocals. I currently have a Rode NT1a and Studio Projects B1. I would like the mike to be a compliment to my existing mics. My budget is $300. Please feel free to suggest any other mics that might be a better option than the ones I've listed.

| I have the Studio Projects VTB1 and I'm getting a DMP3. I also have the pres in my Soundcraft M8. I might be getting rid of the M8 which is why I'm gonna get the DMP3 for stereo recordings. I'm also thinking of getting a Joe Meek later this year for another colour?

| You have two condensers. You need varity, not another condenser. You should get a large dynamic like the Shure SM7 or Senn 421 and a ribbon like RB100 or RB700 (like cascade Fathead) from Thomann. NO, get two ribbons for later stereo recording. Good luck. |

| This is what I'd do, starting where you are now... 1) sell the rodent 2) replace it with a V69 You'll have some left over from your orignal $300.00 budget. Save a little more, then: 3) get a sennheiser MD421 4) get another B1 to make a pair Or, instead of the 421, you might try an e609 or even an sm57. I like the e609 slightly better than the 57. |

| The SM7b is a great mic for vocals. I really like my SM81's also. They are amazing for acoustic guitar, great for overheads, hi-hat and probably some other stuff. Good luck with your search... cameron |
