| Smaller mixer than Soundcraft M8 without downgrading quality Hi. I'm looking for a smaller mixer than my Soundcraft M8 becuase I'm moving into a smaller room. I use the mixer as a master controller for my monitors, setting up headphone mixes for realtime zero latency monitoring and occassionally use the micpres for recording. I will only need around 4 channels. I have shortlisted the Soundcraft EPM6 and Mackie 1202 VLZ3 mixers but don't know how they would compare to the M8? I would like the mixer to have as little hiss as possible and offer the best audio quality for monitoring without downgrading the sound from my Soundcraft M8. I would also like to keep the budget to £250 if possible.

| mod an M8 If you like the M8, and are familiar with it, why not keep it? This is nowhere near the fanciest Soundcraft mixer, so there is room for parts improvement. The power supplies are likely less-excellent than they could be. Capacitors, switches, pots, opamps, connectors, could be upgraded. Signal routing could be simplified if it's just a monitoring board. Cheers.

| What about the Soundcraft Compact mixers? How do these compare in general audio quality / noise (not pres) compared to my M8? I would like monitoring to be as hiss free as possible and don't want to go for a mixer that will be noticibly worse than my M8.

| Hi. The M4 is too big for the surface I need to put it on. I need to put it next to a monitor as space is tight.
