Digidesign 003 Trade-In Promo Question

Hi guys,

I'm a new member, but I've been into audio recording for a while and have watched the site for a while. I have a quick question.

Does anybody know if Digidesign changed the prices of the trade in for the Digi 003?

I say this because when it originally came out I swear I thought the upgrade from an MBox 1 to a new 003 Rack (Not Factory) was $645. Now that $645 appears to be just the savings and the exchange price is $1145. At first, I thought I misread it initially, but then I searched in the Gearslutz forms and found this thread

Notice in the thread, the user, broadway252, talks about upgrading from an 001 to an 003R for $795. Well, currently, on Digidesign.com, the price to upgrade from an 001 to an 003R (Not Factory) is $1045.

Did I misread this initially or has Digidesign changed the prices? Please let me know if I'm wrong or if I've missed something here. I just think that $1145 for a trade in of my MBox is terrible deal when I can buy a new 003R off of Sweetwater for $50 more.

Thanks a lot.

BTW. Here is the link to the Digidesign Trade In Prices

That $1145 trade in price for your mbox INCLUDES the Music Production Toolkit. Not just an 003 rack. I dont think digi has changed the prices.

Look elsewhere...

On the Digi site. There's an additional hardware upgrade offer (NOT the special promotion you link to) that just includes the 003 (no music production kit) for a lower cost.

Can you link that upgrade page you were talking about?
I can't seem to find it on the Digi site.

Thanks.

Hm, I guess Digi feels that there's no need to upgrade from the 002..?

You've gotta, gotta, gotta trade it in for the 003 Console + MPTK. If for some bizarre reason you don't like it for the $1595, you can probably flip it for close to $2000...

I just traded my old mbox for an 003R with the MPTK. it was $1149 or something like that.

I have to say it was really worth it. I didn't think I'd need the MPTK, but the extra track count has been really handy, and the included MPTK software is really quite nice (TL space!). I've been running it on a macbook, and it seems to run really well with lots of tracks and plug-ins.

:)

like peeder mentioned it is definitely worth it to get the MPTK option.
you could sell the plugins you don't want or need on eBay and end up turning a decent profit (even while keeping the increased track count option).

I should get mine Monday, with the MPTK. Couldn't resist. It was either
go backwards and get a used Mix+ system, or get this and a new Mac pro.
I can use my Rosetta 200 as a master clock. I hope it's as stable as the 001 has been for the last six years.

Yes, apparently as there is no trade in program from the 002 to 003 at all.

We've done some trades and generally you get a little more than you would with eBay etc. Also, the 003 is shipped in advance so you're never without a unit which is nice.
