We have dual AKG C3x podium mics fed directly into a Yamaha MG24.8 with no processing whatever other than a limiter to protect the speakers. Problem is that the AKG C31's don't pick up short folks or those that speak very slowly...no compressor/AGC.....and we run without a sound technician so I have to set up for unattended operation. The mics are too short so at best they are 9" from a tall speaker (that's another problem to fix)...and no one moves them to face them...they just speak from the podium (untrainable users). I've been asked to fix the volume problem...quickly. I have a DBX 1066 and a couple of DBX 166's...but not sure either are good for this voice application...there is some singing as well. This is for a house of worship...so little money...but I'll shop ebay and other used sites if necessary. What would you use for a low cost AGC in this enviroment? |

| Nearly any comp will work for this. Make sure to set attack fairly quick and the hold / release long. A gate also helps clean things up. Watch your ratio and make up gains so you don't cause feedback issues. -tINY |
