Can I put a D.I on my keyboard mixer out's?

I have a keyboard mixer with lots of hardware synths going through..

My mixer output goes into my soundcard input L/R.

When I need to track my synths into my DAW, it would be easier just to mute all but the synth I am recording, and have the D.I permanently strapped to the main outs of the mixer. This saves having to patch the D.I in between a particular synth and its corresponding mixer input for each tracking session.

BUT: Is the result the same?????

Thanks in advance.

Is this DI taking something close to line level from the keyboards and converting it to match the mic inputs on the mixer (a typical scenario)? If that's the case it would be misapplied at the line level path between the mixer and s/c.
Unless you need the balanced added length of the mic lines, why not go directly line-in to the mixer?
