Protools Mix+

Looking for info on a/d/a conversion for a protools mix+ system.
I am 99% sure I am going to get a Apogee ad8000 but wondering if there are any other pro options. Any info would be helpful.

Actually, a Rosetta 800 with X-Digi-Mix Card expansion card would be the best way to go. Either that, or just get a Digidesign 24bit adat bridge and use whatever set of converters you like including lavry or mytek via adat.

I just got a Mix+ with two 24bit ADAT Bridges. I am using a Panasonic DA7 digital console which I feel sounds better than the 888 digis, I don't how it stacks up to a Rosetta as I have not been able to compare the two. I also have a separate AMD 64x2 machine running Giga and some other soft synths to PT via a RME hammerfall. If you have the ADAT Bridges you can also use them to interface with any digital console from Yamaha, Sony, whatever via lightpipe and you could also hook up the Apogee AD/DA 16x series convertors this way or other brands as suggested earlier.

Can I use the clock of the converter that is connected thru the optical connection to clock my system? Also is it true that the optical connection on the 24bit adat bridge is only 20bit and the aes is 24 bit? Any info would be helpful.

You are speaking of the 20 bit ADAT Bridge, 20 bit on the opticals, 24 bit on the AES. The 24 bit ADAT Bridge is 24 bit across the board.

I got my Mix+ and two ADAT Bridges for less than the price of a new 003, go figure.

Thx for the info but I am wondering if I can clock my system with the converter connected to the optical inputs of the adat bridge.
