MOTU 8PRE vs DIGIMAX

Im looking for somthing to run optically into my 003. Anyone familiar with these two interfaces (tell me which ones better) or can anyone reccomend something better for around the same price?
Thanks

I have an 828mkII and a Digimax FS, and the A/Ds, pres, and clock of the Digimax FS seem to be a lot better.

Yeah, what he said. Presonus sounds better to me.

I am trying to decide on an extra 8 channels adat right now to. I am leaning towards the digimax lt but I think i just discovered it doesnt have DAC outputs, like the regular digimax. I think I would have already bought the digimax if all 8 XLR inputs werent on the front i hate that

I was a bit unsure about having inputs in the front, but they suit me pretty well now. Makes it very easy to change inputs, and to see which cable is going where. Much harder to keep things looking neat though.

Do you use your interfaces for live recordings or "studio" work?

Studio mostly, but I've used the 828 as a live mixer and recorder with an ADA8000.
