Pro Tools 7.3 LE Training

I'm thinking about making a jump from Sonar to PT for compatibility with outside studios.

Are there any good books/DVD's that will get me on my feet quickly? Loop editing and MIDI editing being most important.

BTW - How is Protools these days for MIDI? I do a lot of MIDI work (BFD, Trilogy, etc. etc.) at home and track live instruments at a "pro studio."

Thanks

Digidesign has really improved the MIDI functionality in version 7+. That being said, it still doesn't comapre to Cubase 4 or Digital Performer. You have cool stuff like insturment tracks, and some other added features. Pro Tools will do just about everything you would want, the big difference is the user interface.

As for getting your learn on...

When you buy a Digi interface (i.e. Mbox, 002, 003) it comes with the Method One DVD which is a basic primer on PT. I personally reccomend "Pro Tools 7 IGNITE" published by Thompson Media Technologies. You can find it at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and even (ewww) Guitar Center.

Hope That Helps,
Creston

Groovebox ProTools training.

I really like the training demos at GrooveBox. You can buy a monthly GPass that allows you to either access just ProTools 7 training, or one that allows you acccess to all the training. I bought the all-access pass, because there's some training under ProTools 6 that is useful, and you can't access it under PT 7 with the first pass. I've been using PT for several years, but the this training improved my editing skills a lot.

Make the move to Protools. It's the industry standard. You won't be sorry.
