Don't know wich one to choose about KRK's monitor!!

Anyone here could give some Positive or Neg about KRKs monitor or wich one to suggest?

I have a dilemme btw buying either the following:

The one that attracts me are the following:

- Krk's Rocket powered 8
- Krk's V2 series V8
- The brain new one VXT8 (http://www.krksys.com/index2.php?cat=prodland&page=vxt)

Wich of these 3 would you guyz suggest. I've heard some of them in action, Rocket but not the 8 i guess and the V series and they sounded very very good. Anyone have tried the brain new ones VXT series?

I would appreciate any comments are more then welcome!

Thanx a lot.

P.s I mostly work in the following Gendra of music: Urban (R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop etc..), movie score and Rock /Alternative songs also...All!! Thanx in advance for your time guyz~!

I think the V6's are really good, I puchased a pair recently, considering the genre's your working in, they might be a good fit for you, or the V8's? I don't know, I've not heard them. The V6's are a good size for my room.

Probably the most i've seen used in action are the E8's or recently the E8T's!

what do u think about that?

I think that mixes on the V6 seem to translate better than the V8. I think the V8s give a false impression of too much low end being present.

+1 on the V6 series 2. Very nice and flat for the price and IMO are much better for mixing than the V8s and I'd go as far as to say one of the best that KRK make. I love them for $700 a pair.

I dont mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone have an opinions of the KRK V4? I'm curious to know how accurate they translate as well.

I've been using a pair of V4 for several years now as a second reference. They do an excellent job of showing me low end issues in particular, without having to crank them. If the kick and bass guitar just aren't jiving or one is too loud, the V4 tell me these things real quick. The 4" woofer is a great reference for smaller systems in the real world.

However, for a main monitor from the KRK line for me it's a no brainer: V6.

The V6 have a very detailed midrange, enough bottom, and an overall natural kind of sound to them. It's my favorite speaker in their range, the V8 are OK but have a bit of a "disco smile" curve kind of sound to them (as do the RP8).

Thanx for teh responses!

So fellas! If i understand, everybody here is more towards V6 series 2. So if i understand with the new line from Krk , the VXT series, i guess going with the VXT6 would be just like the V6 series II if i go by logic... But i will wait a bit because nobody has them yet in store for sale!!

Thanx for your time

New VXT

I had the chance to hear the new VXT line of speakers: A/B comparisions of every speakers in an SSL studio, in a boardroom,... They are great speakers and I believe you should definitely try them when you have a chance before buying anything else. All of them have "something": the VXT4 has an amazing presence for a small footprint and I think that those who liked the V4II will love them even more.. The VXT6 will be my choice because of the size of my control room and they will replace my old V6. The VXT8 has a huge sound (not hyped though) and will need a bigger room,...

I've noticed the same. it has too full of a low end in comparison to the rest of the freq. range. Although you can tweak it.

Yeah the V8's seem to smear the mids. Way too much low end. My friend has the V6's and they're awesome.

Thanx again!

VXT shipping

We were told by KRK that they are at sea now and should be shipping within two weeks. Definately worth the wait. So many improvements over the old ones.

I have the V8's, version 1, and I am very happy with them. I don't notice that the bass is too much at all. The mid range is very clear as well, I don't notice that it is smeared like someone said earlier. Everything sounds very clear through them (no mud at all). I have not tried any new KRK versions so I can't compair with what is available now. I hope mine don't break because it seems that it will be very hard to get it fixed.

I have the V8 version 1 and really like it. I worked with V6 and V4 too. I prefer the V8. But I must say it works much much better with a subwoofer (S12).

Hi I too am looking at the V6 series. Guitar Center in my city has them for $199 each! So for $400 can I go wrong? Also how do I know if they are series II. Does it say it on the box? And the guy at GC said the RP8's are better than the V6's? Any response to that? I was alos looking at a piar of used RP 5's for $180 which is also a great deal. Im in college so I'll be mixing in a bedroom for quite sometime

KRK has taken many knocks on these forums for thier spotty customer service, but speaker wise I have been a huge fan of KRK for over ten years.

I still have and use a pair of original silk domed E8's which KRK rebuilt for me last year after a horrible UPS destruction when being sent to repair an expired transformer.

I love them period. I have not in any shootouts found better speakers for my ears in my room. If you can find a used pair on e-bay they are amazing.

I have also tried the E8ts with the replaced titanium tweeeter and was unimpressed as they were very, very harsh in the highs to my ears and induced ear fatigue quickly.

I am very currious about the new E8s coming out to see how the legacy has developed...

I also borrowed a pair of original V8's from a friend while my E8's were being repaired/rebuilt and it was a case of, if I had never heard the E8's I think I'd like these speakers.

I did hear the new VXTs at NAMM, not the best place to demo a speaker and the ones that impressed me the most on a gut level were the VXT 4's and 6's. Very tight and full.

I also know a guy who stumbled into a Guitar Center blowout on V-6's to replace his Rockits and is loving them.

Just my opinions, FWIW

Xj

I just got a pair of V8 MK I about 6 weeks ago....I love them so far, very easy to learn.

IMO, Solar, You should go with the 8", not the 6" because you'll be doing hip hop, you'll need that extra low freq response.

+1 for the V6 series II

I hear through the grapevine that many feel that the series II V6s are better and the series I V8s are better.

When I did some A/B-ing, I found the V6s were better and maybe flatter. I love them, and for the price, can't be beat.
