onyx satellite v. firebox

Which sounds best?

Do either sound good? Are there similarly priced units that sound significantly better than either of these?

thanks

I had a mackie satellite and it worked great. I now have an RME Fireface 800. For 2 preamps it did an excellent job and I never had any issues with it. I think the preamps are pretty good also. I haven't tried the others you asked about though. Now that I have the RME and have something to compare to the satellite, the satellite still gets great reviews from me. A lot of options in a small box...very cool.

thanks. I'm glad to hear that it still sounds decent to you after the upgrade. I only need 2 mic inputs; just doing some acoustic recordings. I want to get the cheapest thing i can that works for me. The mackie is the cheapest, but I'm a little worried that that extra $100 for the echo or presonus will get me a much nicer interface.

all their features work for me, so it just a matter of picking the one that sounds the best.

thanks

note, there is no midi at all on the Satellite. For some, me in particular, that is a deal breaker, as I'd have to buy yet another piece of gear.
