| ES-57 Just found out about these the other day... a knock-off SM57 for $30, or 10-packs for $200! More info here from Orange County Speaker. Anyone here have or used one? I figure if it sounds to good to be true it likely is, but what little I've read about them seems very positive... at that price, it's hard to go wrong...? |

| k - the main reason I asked is that I have an opportunity to buy a half dozen used SM57s, but these knock-offs would be a better deal new... Maybe I'll get a couple just to find out. Not much to lose, I guess. cheers and thanks. |

| Lives for gear | i have a handful of them. they're fine. i'd definitely pick one of them up instead of most other sub-sm57 mics. i think homerecording.com has some info and soundclips and such. |

| I have one. It seems a lot brighter than a 57 but not necessarily in a good way. I'd much rather have the real 57s. If you want I can record something and post some comparisons. |

| They don't sound like 57s. They sound closer to 421s. They are good utility mics. Do a search, they have been discussed at length. |

I've been offered $60 ea. for the used SMs, bought new eight years ago. Not sure how much use they've had but I suspect not much. mute-pink, appreciate the offer for A/B clips - I'll let you know if I don't find anything that helps... thanks! | |

| Lives for gear | try searching for gls as well i'd also much prefer real 57s, but i only have a few of those and sometimes i like having more close mics to help me out come mix time. |

| The clips that I liked them on over at homerecording were their use on toms, snare not so much, guitar cab no so much either. But on toms they have a sweet sound to them. I don't own any, just going by the clips I have heard. |
