A/D Converter for Laptop

So, I need a good A/D converter for use with my windows-based laptop. PCMCIA is absolutely preferred to firewire.
I don't need to worry about mic pres, as my school has a bunch of benchmarks I'll be using.

My priorities are:
) Good D/A Converters
) Solid Windows XP Drivers
) Hardware Build Quality
) 12+ channels of input

Anybody have any suggestions?
I've looked at the AudioFire12 and it looks kind of... crappy.

Thanks!
