Exclamation Tips for Tascam FW1082 and FW1884 users.

I've been using the Tascam FW 1082 (the 1884s kid brother) for almost 2 years and was wondering what tips my fellow Tascam brethren could share. I've found the FW series to be the best deal on the market (IMHO) for an all-in-one DAW mixer that wont break the bank. Here are a few tips I've gathered:

1. the pres break up easy at high volumes

2. the inserts are NOT balanced (at least on the 1082)

3. the pres roll off a bit of high end

4. the fader studdering problem sucks!

5. to TRULY bypass the internal mic pres, you'll need to buy a preamp with digital SPIDF out (like an m-audio tampa), simply turning down the gain on the internal pres will not BYPASS them, the signal will still run through the pre.

6. And for those of you concerned that the AD and DA converters are hurting your sound quality, I'm not entirely sure what to think here. From what I've gathered, the converters are AK4528VF series made by AKM, and you can download the spec sheet for FREE here AK4528VF datasheet AK4528VF.pdf IC-ON-LINE.CN-Free DataSheet Pdf Search and Download Site in PDF format and judge for yourself. Anyways, just thought I'd see how you Tascam guys are doing!
