| I wouldn't go so far as to say awesome. It's a starved plate design, it's barely utilizing the tube. |

| I know no one wants to hear that, but he is right. Use the pre for what it can do, they arent bad at all. The tube is for decoration purposes, unless you want the fizzy NIN -Rat pedal sound. And even at that point, Im not sure a better tube would make that effect sound better or not.. |

| I agree. I switched out my tubes a number of times with no discernable difference. I use the tube drive sparingly as an effect. Recently picked up the Bluetube DP to use instead for utitlity stuff.....same deal with the starved plate but a little quieter.

| I have one I don't use to much anymore but I changed the tube from the 12ax7 to a 12au7, which lowered the gain, it did make a difference, less noise. I think it was worth it. |

| I used to use a digitube back in the days. I remember swaping out the stock tube for a telefunken 12ax7. DEFINITELY made a difference...when the tube drive was cranked. Real dirty bass recordings!

| Tube.... If u have a Presonus Tube preamp and that's it, I would Suggest finding a used Telefunken 12ax7 ECC83 tube (about 40-60 dollars). I know its more of an effect ...but if u use it as your Mic Preamp, I DID hear a difference between the Telefunken and the stock 5.00 Yugo Tube that it comes with.......... HOPE this helps! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
