| Possibility that the 003 clock will be good? Hi mates, I need some opinions while preparing for my LE upgrade.. Currently, my 001 takes clock from my RME ADI-8 PRO (via ADAT optical), before that, my "master clock" was my MOTU DTP - Digital Timepiece (via SPDIF) - I might still need to keep the DTP for pull ups/downs and to control decks.. The other digital device in the room that takes WORD clock is my dbx 386 mic-pre. The DA-88 might be moved to this room too. When the 003 comes into the picture, should the RME still remain as my Master? or should the RME slave to the 003 this time? Thanks !

| There is only one way to find out and thats to try it for yourself. How can people who buy the 003 tell if the clock is better or worse? They might notice that the conversion has improved, but thats a combination of a lot of things to do with the 003 upgrade. One thing to note is that internal clocks aren't really designed to work as masters for extended setups. Under such loads like you are suggesting and external clock will stuggle. A dedicated master clock is your best bet, like a big ben. That being said, the improvements of buying a master clock for the gear you are using probably won't be anywhere near as beneficial as selling all that gear and upgrading to a Lynx Aurora, Rosetta 800 or even SSL alpha link. |
