CinderBlock or Wood

I'm sure somebody has asked this before but I searched and couldn't find it. I'm building a studio in my back yard from the ground up. I need it to be strong and as sound proof as possible. I live in the hood and nobody needs to know theres equipment back there. I've been making beats through head phones for since I moved here and its killin me. I miss bowel moving bass. It inspires me.

For cost effectiveness, should I go with my concrete slab and cinder block plans or concrete slab and wood framed structure? I intend to build a wall within a wall in both designs. I have been told I'll spend less money with the wood and still have the same isolation? Is that true? Also where can I get some construct ideas for a 20x30 two story construct?

Thanks for your input.

Cinder block will do you much better than wood. Fill all of it with sand.

The denser materials are better at keeping sound from passing through.

A double wall of brick will be better then a cinderblock wall, and much better then wood. Well taped and mudded sheetrock on the inside walls will help a lot too.

Multiple walls that don’t touch each other is good.

Check home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes) for construction plans.

Build the whole studio underground. Watch out for the mole and spider people though.

Just make sure that you make it big (tall too). That will help with good bass.

that sounds to me like a question you may want to ask in so much gear... so you're maybe more likely to get some responses from those more experienced.

one thing i would say is if you really want it sound insulated for bass, be sure to have an isolated floor -- consider separate slabs -- and leave a comfy air gap between inner and outer walls... and ceiling.
