Edirol Hypercanvas

Hi,

Do you think I could use the Hypercanvas sound in anything remotely professional. It is good for knocking together little demos, but I'm doubtful about whether it could be put to professional use. If I was looking to upgrade my piano sound, should I go for Native Instruments Akoustic Piano? The demos of it which I've heard have been great but I'm not sure if it's "necessary".

i like the hypercanvas for its more 'obvious' synth sounds...like saw waves and sweep pads and things.....the adjustable parameters for patches like that make it a usefull tool. also the drum samples in the various modules are pretty usefull for mapping out demos and even beefing up recorded tracks (IE recording the samples and triggering via drumagog, etc), but the pianos and strings (the real stuff) are dubious. Depends on how much realism/dynamics you're looking for, but for real professional results, esp piano id look into the Edirol Orchestral box, its piano dynamics controls are awesome and very lifelike, and tahts to say nothing of its string and horn sounds, which are phenomenal.

If I were you I'd ditch the Hypercanvas and get a workstation VSTi. Most of these will offer a massive stepup on sample quality from your edirol. Check these out:-

Colussus - East West
Independance - yellow tools
Dimension Pro - cakewalk
Sampletank 2.2XL - IK Multimedia
Plugsound Pro - Ultimate Soundbank
Hypersonic 2 - Steinberg
Wusikstation

The first 4 are my favourites. For most of these you can by expansion packs which include dedicated piano libraries.
Going for one of these should make a vast improvement over your Hypercanvas! They're all professional products and most of them are capable of seriously realistic results!!

What's your budget?
