| Pop/Rock Metal Drums ok, I'm fairly certain I will get flamed for this, but I really want to know. I'm fairly new to mixing, have a basic daw, and BFD. I know I can't get 100% of the sound I'm looking for but would like to get as close as possible with my set up. The sound I'm looking for is like creed, or nickelback or even disturbed. I can get the beats fine, it's the actual sound. I don't know what to apply first in a chain. I'm not sure what to cut or boost eq wise...so I'm looking for some beginers tips. Any suggestions on how to get that kind of sound would be greatly appreciated! (Believe me, I get that those are not the most popular bands on this forum. BUT they are successful in commercial music, so I am trying to get as close as I can) Thanks!!! |

This may help: http://www.recordingwebsite.com/articles/eqprimer.php http://www.harddisklife.com/Pages/At.../atricles.html http://www.harddisklife.com/Pages/Co...apterNest.html (there is a download for drums and bass if your using Pro Tools so you can see what he has applied for EQ and what the end results sound like) Use as a GUIDLINE as no one session is the same. As most others will say ... "Trust your ears". If it sounds good... it is good (of course this is very subjective but you get the idea:-) Most importantly, have fun and remember there are no set rules. Quote:

| I didn't realize those bands used metal drums... I always think of Caribean styles when I think steel drums.... -tINY |
