Bass samples... MAssive Attack, Portishead, Gotan Project sounding...

Hi there,

I'm specifically looking for samples of single bass notes, and preferably NOT complete basslines. I'm looking for heavy, dark bass, something you'd hear in some hip hop or electronica like Portishead, Massive Attack, Gotan Project. Phat, warm bass notes, nothing like a slap bass or fretless bass, nothing 80's sounding. Any suggestions on where to look?

pick up a half way decent bass guit & a sansamp bass driver di to record your own. i occasionally run mine thru a synth w/ an aux in for a wetter tone. most trip hop bands will double up a live & a sequenced bass pulse.

Check out Spectrasonics Trilogy or East West Quantum Leap Hardcore Bass. Does not get any better than those two.

Try creating your own by using synth and EQ filters and distortion/overdrive (plug-ins or otherwise).

EG --- Try sine wave plus square wave synthesis on your synth, re-mic it through an amp, or mess around with compression and/or distortion >>> EQ >>> lo-pass filter or resonant filter.
