Best Sub for under $500 ???

Looking to upgrade - Can't really really afford more than $500 for a decent sub. I may need to buy 2 for my room, but 1 is fine for now. Any suggestions? Looking for the tightest, fastest response i can get in this price range. It will compliment Mackie 624's and/or Adam A7's.

I use M-Audio SBX. You can land one for $200 usually. ....might not be good enough for you.

Subs don't need fast response - Low frequencies aren't fast.

My searching has turned up audiophile/prosumer stuff like Velodyne or Tannoy...the M Audio 10" sub looks interesting but I haven't heard one yet. Everything else like that $300 KRK is kinda junk or doesn't offer enough control over LF management to be viable IMO.

I use a Tannoy ST10 with 2 pairs of Tannoy speakers - Reveals and System 600 dual concentrics. The woofer has been a winner in all parameters. It is in your price range.

Best.
