Cant find pre/post

Are you talking about the pre/post meter or pre/post in the sends busses?

For the pre/post meter, in Protools 7 I believe its under Operations.

For the sends busses it will be right on the buss channel strip labelled as 'P' - I believe.

In Logic, in the "Sends" area above the fader, click and hold on the name of the bus, and you can choose pre or post in a popup.

thanks for that guys!

What im actually trying to do is put a reverb on a snare and get just the reverb (no dry) and record it as an audio file.

If someone could tell me in very simple terms how exactly to do it i would be eternally grateful. Ive got pro tools and logic so either would b great.

I really dont have a great grasp how how buss sends and pre/post fader works so please patronise me if you would.

Merry christmas!

It simple. On PT's create a send using a bus on the channel of the snare that's feeding a reverb that's being fed from the same bus..
Now, on THAT fader, change it to "Pre". It's right there above the fader. There's 2 buttons. One says "Safe" the other says "Pre". Hit the "Pre" button, and it becomes pre-fade.
Now, be aware that the send is not automatable to switch between Pre and Post fade.

Thanks for the respose,

Im sorry but i still dont know what to do.

So, ive got my channel in pro tools its got my snare on it......

do i pu the reverb on a buss track and send the snare to it?

If thats right, do i then simply click the pre fader button and bingo?

Do i send it back in on another track?

How do i record the sound?

If someone's patient enough to hekp me out i would really really appreciate it.

Its like everything i guess it easy when you know how.

Merry Christmas

Ok. Create a Stereo Aux channel.
Insert a Reverb Plug-in on it.
Now on that channel selct the "Input" button, and select "Bus 1+2"
On the Same Channel Select the output to be a Stereo Bus IE 3+4.
Now do with the snare track what I Did before.
Now create a new stereo audio channel. As an Input select the out put of your snare reverb. In this case Bus 3+4.
Now, you can record the output of the reverb.

Ive tried and ive tried and i still cant do it..SO FRUSTRATING!

I create an audio track, place the audio file on it, send its output to bus 1-2.
Create a stereo aux set its input to 1-2, output to 3-4. Place a reverb on it
Create another audio track set its input to 3-4.
Press record. Nothing!

Could someone please explain to me the differences of all of the busses on the mixer.
There are the inputs at the very top, just below there are some buss sends and then their are some other buss sends in a different section just below those ones. Are these different? Then their are the inputs/outputs of the channel just below them which can also be sent to busses.

I am really confused!

If someone could help me i would be eternally greatful.

Thanks

Here's a picture that might help.
Pre/Post Fader?-pre-post-mix.jpg

- Track #1 is the Original Snare track. Put a send to BUS 1-2. Select PRE (just under "Snare" on the big bus view). Now lower the volume on this track (or mute it).
- Track #2 is an AUX stereo track with a Reverb inserted. Select the input of this AUX to BUS 1-2 (that we'll be using in this example as your Reverb Bus) and its output to BUS 3-4.
- Track #3 is your Snare Reverb Only stereo track. Set its input to BUS 3-4. Record. You should record and hear snare reverb only without the Origianl Snare Sound.

Here's a picture of the edit window of this example in Pro Tools.
Pre/Post Fader?-pre-post-edit.jpg

Hope this helps and I'll be glad to clarify any other doubts. Merry Christmas!

Ooold bump but for good:

No one solved this issue on LOGIC.

Can anyone clear that up?

Someone above told about pre or post option on SENDS, not inserts....

I would love to know how to insert postfader on Logic!

Thx in advance!
