Setting up a QSC SC28.. ??

so.. this spring we'll be doing an upgrade at a school theatre with a QSC drive rack SC28.. and the speakers are configured 3-way
WideLine 8 line array system.

can I control the drive rack processing via and iPad.. or do I need a laptop ?

what's your experience with this unit ?

I believe neither, the SC28 is intended primarily to select the factory programmed preset for your system configuration and maybe make some minor tweaks, all of which is accomplished via front panel operation. The USB port is for firmware updates, mostly to support new products or system configurations provided by the factory, and updating the firmware requires a Windows PC, a USB interface cable, the appropriate updater software, and the SC28.

Not really. Well, you would not use it through the faceplate alone. As with all of these types of boxes, it is better to connect a computer.

Basically, it asks you questions and does all of the set ups for you. It is dailed in. Line arrays, specifically widelines, don't have room for personal opinion in the DSP. The unit will configure itself, utilizing the proper FIR filters, etc based on the configuration of the array (number of boxes, hang angles, etc).

spent about an hour on the QSC website.. I'm getting a better sense as to what the processor needs.

the originally installer did not do a proper setup and calibration of the system.. looks like it's up to me now to fix lousy install.
