Skype over PA and huge screen

I have been asked to facilitate a Skype connection at an event featuring a
PA system and a large screen with projector in a venue for 250 people.

The idea is that the event is opened by some famous person at a remote
location (using his own computer with skype) while the audience watches mr. famous on the large screen and hears him over the PA, while he hears the presenter at the venue talk and ask him questions (and i'll probably aim a webcam at the stage for mr. famous to see the event scene too).

Questions:
- are there any specific considerations for skype combined with a large
sound system in a hall? I know skype has echo cancellation technology but
that's probably designed for use with computer speakers and computer mic in a home situation. Will it work in a hall too?

mr. famous may hear some echo but i don't want the audience to hear any echo or have problems with the presenter's voice being echoed through the PA system.

- can skype be set to use the line input of my sound card as an input?

- i need mr. famous to hear the presenter and i intend to connect my skype computer's line in to a line out (main mix) of the foh console in the venue (to which the presenter's mic and some other sound sources are connected). The line out of my skype computer goes to an input channel of the foh console for the audience to hear mr. famous. This means skype will get its own output also on its input (through the console, as soon as i open the fader for the skype computer''s channel). Will this cause trouble like feedback or echo?
In that case, is there some clever workaround like routing an aux bus to skype for the presenter's mic only? Otherwise i'd have to split the xlr cable from the presenter's mic and bring a separate preamp to connect to the skype computer, but then mr. famous can't hear the other sound sources. hmm, thinking about it, i'll probably use an aux bus anyway - i just have to check if there is a free bus, i don't know the console yet but i have been told it's decent.

Any ideas?
Any experience? Please share!

nb; skype is to be used, mr. famous can't be bothered to install anything
else on his computer nor does he want/need to be confronted with any
technicalities. I hope mr. famous is using a headset and not speakers (for echo reasons...)

My Recordings/Credits

seems to work without too much feedback with screaming kids in an auditorium

Thanks, but i don't see how that site is going to answer any of my questions. I even tried entering 'skype' into its search box but nothing relevant pops up.

Hmmm good question... See below.

Yes, just checked.

Don't do this! This will cause feedback as you mention. What you want to do is have a send on the presenter's microphone channel to a separate output that is connected to the input of your Skype computer. Like this the signal from your Skype computer isn't fed back to it's input. Now the only feedback risk (on the venue's side) is from the PA speakers (and monitors) to the presenter's microphone.

Worst case scenario would be to gain ride the faders of the presenter's microphone channel and the Skype computer channel on the FOH mixer.

Heh. I see you have already thought of these things. That will teach me for replying before reading the whole post. :-)
