The Smiths: “Big mouth Strikes Again”

Artist: The Smiths
Title track: Big mouth Strikes Again
Year: 1986

1. Type of acoustic Guitar?
2. Signal chain on mix?

The acoustic guitar sound was bright and cut through the mix brilliantly well…

Any Ideas?

This is all speculation/ideas of course:

Since there is no real distorted guitar rolling thru there (just an ES335 into a Vox for the lead or similar) there is a lot of space.

The coustic has most of it's low end rolled off and the mids are forward (either thru EQ, guitar, mic, positioning, preamp or any combo therein).

Regards,
David

A bit off topic, but I saw Johnny Marr at the Melkweg in Amsterdam a few years back and he was playing through Matchless heads and cabs. But pretty certain for The Smiths era he played through a Vox.

I think ol' Johnny played through some Fender amps too. Regardless, that album is bad ass and I'm going to go home home and put it on.

I a related topic, I heard the newest Shins album (not out yet) and it sounds like Mr. Mercer was playing The Queen is Dead a lot while writting songs for that album.

Sorry for the useless post, but I get excited about Smiths threads.
