Swell effect for guitar ?

The Line 6 POD XT has a " swell pedal " effect - but like many of you , I don't really like the POD .

Has anyone ever encountered a good swell pedal or the swell effect in anything else ?

And I don't mean a volume pedal that one controls with the foot - but a swell effect that be adjusted but then acts on its own .

Thanks for any ideas .

You need a pedal called the "Slow Gear"

It was made in the late '70's but I don't remember if it was Multivox or Big Jam who made it.

Or maybe have someone mod an envelope filter to affect vol. instead of tone.

I use this sound all the time. It's best to have control of the swell with your foot.

Guitar> volume pedal> modulation delay> amp

I like to use about 350ms of delay with the top rolled off around 8kHz
Feedback set to about 55% and modulation rate set for 4Hz with just a little depth...just so you hear the delay line wobble a bit which makes the swell have some movement. A whammy bar moving veryy lightly up and down will be similar if you don't have a delay unit that modulates.

I really dug the "swell" fx from the pod too. I actually dug a lot of the fx from the pod. quick. easy. sound good . . . I got all the pro boxes Mod/Echo/Filter. The only one I got new was the Mod pro (I use it constantly) the others I got used at great prices (I rarely use the Filter pro - cool stuff but not very usable for me)

they are prretty quiet and they sound really good - VERY easy to edit. My only gripe is the MIDI synch is a pain in the ass but I have a MIDI bug in my system so it might be my comp . . .

(the swell effect is on the mod pro.)

The Line6 DL4 delay pedal has this feature. Guyatone SV-2 Slow Volume does it as well.

A very cool pedal, indeed. An E-Bow with a volume pedal and a little analog delay is what you're looking for, though. Line 6 effects are great. As an 'analog pedal-nazi', I really want to hate them, but I can't. The distortion modeler whomps on Amp Farm, IMO. The filter mod is kinda tacky, I must say. Fun, but tacky. Love it!

Someone else definitely made a "Slow Gear" first. I had a plastic one. I wasn't aware of the Boss version.

The one I had was white and had a big rubber button on it.

Looks like those Boss Slow Gears are about $300 now.

Seriously, how hard is it gonna be to make an envelope filter do this?
