An old friend of mine makes possibly the greatest pure rock-n-roll amp I have ever heard in my life IMO. From Leslie West/AC/DC type sounds to higher gain crunch. I've tried the Soldano's, Bogners, Mesa, etc... but they have been no match to my ears.

His stuff has grind for days. I used to help him tweak the amps many moons ago (not that he needed my help though).

They don't really do the Fender thing to my ears (tighter sounding), mostly the vintage Marshall sounds (EL34's).

He is a recluse and makes them only once in a while. His own custom wound transformers, highest quality stuff.

I sent him an email today to see if he will be building any soon. I suppose that doesn't do you any good though cause you can't hear them where you are.

If he builds some soon I'll post some clips in another thread so everyone can check them out.

Try these amps, I have owned and personaly herd these amps at NAMM
1. Meteoro Mak 3000, it's a brazilian guitar amp. It's what Sepultura uses. So it's very easy for you to find. But they are about $1900.00
2. Engl Powerball. I own this and its the best amp I've ever played. It's built like a tank and has the best and most diverse distortion around. At under 2k The greatest amp ever!!!
3. Carvin V3. for the $ it's the best sounding hi gain amp you will ever find. Sounds like a cross of Meas trip rec, 5150II, and Engl. You can order these online so they are available to you in brazil. For 900$ it's your best bet. The thing sounds awesome! I recorded our CD with it, listen to it here
myspace.com/dahlgrenprophecy I was on the 2nd channel wich has less distortion on it. 3rd channel is just out of controle. Carvins are also build like tanks. Very road worthy
Well my 3$ is out there. Hope this helps you. Good luck

I've heard the MAK before and liked it... but never recorded it.
A while ago you could get a full stack of MAK 3000 with it's cabinets for less than a Recto (head only) costs here in Brazil.
By the way, the Carvin sounds good, how did you guys recorded and mixed those songs?
Congrats!

try these

I've been in metal bands for 15 years, and I've had every amp under the sun. the 2 best amps for live/recording/practice I have ever used is the go to amp Peavey 5150 EVH, the block letter not the cursive one. I had mesa tubes put in and re-bias and it's been my favorate all around hi gain amp. The clean tone sucks though. The other amp you don't need to hot rod at all but is by far the most flexable amp in the world is the Carvin v3. Hi gain out the ass and wonderfull clean tones. I have clips of my bands if you want to hear them at work.
plus the carvin is one of the most affordable amps around and easy for you to get in brazil. Just call them or go on the web site and order one. Like I said I've had Bogner,VHT,Framus (great amp!!),Mesa. The 5150 is just a tank like the V3 Good luck. email me if you want to hear the amps on the web.

If you wanna hear a 5150 recorded, just go here :
Peavey 5150, API, SM57, Lavry AD10...

I just posted some samples of it, and I think it can sound really smooth and quite "similar" to a Mesa if you dial in it correctly.

I'm really not into metal amps so much, but did recently catch Uli Roth at a local
club and he was running a Framus Cobra and a sweet old Marshall
AND a Custom built Cornish pedal kit.

I would guess that he's using the Framus as a clean headroom power platform for the pedals.
