Thread Starter | Silvertone 335?
I just got this double cutaway Silvertone "335" as the guy described it in the ad. Didn't pay much, having it set up with flats and a once over on the electronics. Thing is, I can't find any documentation of it on the web. It's the beaut in the center. If you've got some information on this get at me. |

Silvertone was Sears generic brand. They had guitars built by Danelectro, Kent, probably Kay and Harmony and some Japanese brands. To me that looks like a Teisco (Japan) built guitar. It probably has a bolt on neck? Might need some help with setup and the pickups usually are hot at good sounding but the electronics break easily. Depending who made it, it could be worth from $150-600. |

Yes, a bolt on neck. The guy who set it up for me seemed to think it may have been built by Televox, does that name ring a bell? it sounds fantastic now and the neck is straight as an arrow. In terms of the electronics going bad, what are you referring to specifically?

The pots and jacks can be troublesome, but if they're not scratchy that's great. Tele-Vox is, I believe, the trade name of some Kawai guitars imported to the US. Interestingly, Kawai bought Teisco in 65 and supplied many of the Silvertone guitars in the late 60s, so I suspect we're both right! I still stand by my value assessment... |

man that's a sweet looking guitar! I'd love to throw around some funky riffs with it.
