Thread Starter | Input on Latching Footswitches
Greetings folks, I have a Laney LH50R head that can use a 2 button latching footswitch. One switch changes the channels, the other turns the reverb off and on. The original footswitch is long gone. A while back I ended up getting a generic Johnson Dual Footswitch which has worked pretty well. One of the switches has finally gone on the Johnson and I am considering a number of options. My ideal option would be to just buy another footswitch, but I'd prefer one that doesn't have the cable permanently attached to it like the Johnson (and many others) do. I'd like the option of using whatever 1/4" stereo cable I want for length reasons. There are some like this out there like the Vox VFS2A, a Fender and maybe others. Having the LEDs would be nice as well. My question is are all of these footswitches the same even though they say they are made to work with specific amp models? i.e. at the end of the day do they all send the same signal over the same cable and are really interchangeable? Is there a generic spec for this or is it manufacturer specific? Other options would be to get a new switch and maybe mod the Johnson to accept the 1/4" cable, but not ideal. Any insight into the land of latching footswitches and their inner workings would be welcome as would suggestions on any others out there that may work with this head and not have a perma cable. Cheers. |
