Thread Starter | How to get this guitar sound
Referring to the super fuzzy/distorted tone in the attached clip. Just wondering what amp/cab/mic(s) (position, etc)/and whatever else you would use to get the tone! |

| Lots of processing.. hard to tell what the set up is with that much chorus, etc swirling around.

I only gave it one listen on my laptop speakers so... It's definitely more than one guitar track. It definitely has a sound I associated with direct-in plugin amp sims. The sound of that Joemeek EQ that comes with so many protools setups. The sound of a ripped up optical compressor (hardware or software) The reverb has a good amount of pre-delay. I may be completely wrong. |

EL84 ish sounding, with that bright/brittle. Double tracked or 2 amps with a simulator.

I'd say 2-3 tracks with various amounts of gain and maybe one clean track. Distortion reminds me of a Boss DS-2 or something moderately "scoopy". Lastly they're all bussed together and fairly heavily compressed.

I agree with the EL84-ish comment, and it's definitely at least doubled, but it doesn't have the "thump" of a real amp. The closest thing in my tiny collection of amp sims would probably be the Amp Farm AC30 Top Boost.
