POD 2.0 in front of an amp in studio

ive had alot of success with the pod 2.0 going direct in the studio!. im looking to use it for the studio only but in front of an amp this time. mainly for it's effects. I haven't recorded anything with it as it sounds lame with the amp switch on (tried with solid state amp as well as tube amp). if anyone out there has any experience with the non direct method..i'd appreciate it. so far not so good.

Presuming the (real) guitar amp you're using is one you like, try setting the POD to the "preamp" model rather than some redundant "guitar amp" model. Also be sure to disable any speaker emulation in the POD.

As long as the Pod in front of the amp is not plugged in, and no guitar signal is routed through it, everything should sound fine.

What do you mean? Through an effects loop?

No, I think he is being a smartass saying that POD's never sound good.

I've personally played Pod's through Tube-amps, and it makes them sound better, I personally leave the speaker emulation on. But the amp itself must not distort too much, reverb or modulation effects don't sound very good when they are distorted.

Take a POD-sound you like and route it through a clean sounding (power)(tube)-amp, to see if you like it...
