Has anyone heard of Duesenberg?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post!
I'm a classical guitar player in the market for an electric. I originally was thinking of getting a good Les Paul or similar guitar, then I found this video:

Duesenberg Double Cat with Multibender - YouTube

To me, it sounds great! What's the general opinion of Duesenberg guitars? I read on their website that Dave Stewart uses them.

Thanks!

They sound great and have a distinctive look. Unfortunately my brothers Duesenberg has issues with it's chrome hardware peeling. Dunno if there are issues with all Duesenbergs and chrome...

Duesenberg guitars are a steal. For example the "starplayer" is the most guitar money can buy around here, now. I tell every player that asks me about guitars in the studio and this is what I recommend. I have seen a lot of expensive and cheap guitars walk through the door at my place and for THAT kind of quality you'd pay double the sum and more with Gibson (I don't recommend buying from that company, for a host of reasons) and Fender. Others to recommend are USA-built G+L guitars and "Heritage".

Duesenberg's are, or at least have largely been Korean mfg guitars, set up in Germany. They've got some cool features and cool hardware but they are pretty much masquerading as German made instruments.

This may or may not be important to you.

My line of thinking tells me a tricked out guitar MIK should retail close to, or under $1k us....these guitars are twice that.

Cool? Not cool?

I never thought about where they were made, I was just amazed how well they recorded, kept tuning, played. I've got a few guitars here, an old LesPaul, a Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro, Esh, G+L, some I built myself... There's no need to break out one of my "good" guitars when somebody with a Duesenberg comes in. Keep in mind all of my other guitars did cost considerably more. These aren't just budget guitars - go and compare them to more 'name' guitars. I even was thinking about buying one myself... but the sane part of me keeps whispering I already got enough instruments. I still got to buy an Atlansia Garland bass one day. Just for looks. After I got me a piano so I don't have to take my mobile rig to the local music hall.... I should probably just buy the music hall and be done. For a while.

I have a friend that has 3 Duesenberg guitars. They're fantastic. The fact that he also has Gretsch's and expensive Les Paul's, but plays these is a testament. I've played them on a number of occasions and can not say a bad thing about them.

And yes, the Starplayer TV is a super versatile guitar. I'd highly recommend it (having personally owned / played any electric guitar under the sun)

I own a starplayer tv. Someone asked me how it sounds. I said it sounds like a Duesenberg. But someone put it better than me. It sounds how it looks. This may sound a bit silly, but when you are in the room with one and you hear it played it really is a spot on comment. I love mine. One of the Eagles guys plays one.

I also wouldn't hesitate getting another, perhaps a standard starplayer or the V-castor.
