Thread Starter | Peavey Classic 50 combo --> head project
Yeah, my work looks like it was done blindfolded with a chainsaw, but I don't do a lot of creative woodwork, so I did the best I could with minimal planning/knowledge. The amp came from an old Peavey Classic 50 I've had for ages, it fell off a shelf so the Midrange knob is broken off, thought I'd have some fun with it. Wanted to go with a modular head/cab situation so I could use it with my Marshall MC212 cabinet and stuf, also wanted the knobs/tubes to be visible from the front. Had to leave space in the lower front of cabinet to access speaker plugs, had to use L-jack speaker cable with short space underneath. I got JJ Tubes' Vox AC30 Standard Tube Set (x4 EL84, x3 12AX7) from Amazon and a Fender dogbone handle, plus some chicken head knobs. I used my jigsaw to carve the sparrow image into the front, placing some red acrylic and clear plastic behind it. The power light shines through and makes for a nice little glow. I had some blue and walnut stain laying around, shined it up with some finishing wax and then polish. The stain didn't take too well to the places I used some gap putty stuff. Was tempted to glue on black Tolex covering, but that sounded like a mess. Anyways, nothing crazy, but here are some pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
