Thread Starter | Any sound disadvantages for using thinner picks?
I have a large preference for super thin picks (.50mm) and I was just wondering if there were any disadvantages to using picks that thin on a miced acoustic guitar, such as more click (Although that could be a good thing if it's what you were aiming for). I'm just curious what other aspects there are to pick size than ones own comfort level.

What you hear is what you get. Yes it sounds different from a thicker pick. Materials also make a difference. It's all about preference. Use what sounds good to you.

they can snap also, i like the feel of Dunlop Nylon .46 that is a nice struming pick but it cab be to clicky. so .60 can better. I favor yellow herdims they are made of somthing the doesnt click as much, but they are hard to find and expensive.

I like strumming using sides, which has a bigger radius.

Bear in mind that there is a relationship between string weight/tension and pick. For a low weight/tension string and hard pick essentially the string moves out the way of the pick, and for a hight weight/tension string and thin pick the pick moves out of the way of the string. For that reason lots of people prefer hard picks for electric guitar (which have lower weight/tension strings) and thinner picks for steel-strung acoustics (which have very high tension strings). It will affect both the sound of the pick, and also the sound of the string in both level, and attack. It may also affect the tonal balance.
