Ztar is awesome as it's not based on traditional guitar technology, more like a keyboard with a guitar like layout. The other IMO are a joke, have tried most of them and ended up with a Ztar and only with that is midi guitar a real possibility.

im thinking about the ztar cause the hexa pickup and yourock guitar are very crappy at tracking.

but the prices are just down right ridiculous.

btw... is it me or the yourock guitar is made originally or designed by starrlabs?

I've tried Roland GR-1/GK2 combo and have always been dissapointed. Would love to find a MIDI guitar that actually works like it should.

How is ztar? Gonna look into it.

I've got a Roland Ready Strat and an Axon AX50 = Awesome!

Although, I probably would have gotten a Godin had I known about them at the time. Looks like Axon is out of business - but it's best tracking out there if you can find them.

Tried them all incl a Ztar. YGR is the best right now IMO. Not perfect but very good. You need to tweak the editor people!

I have a friend who gets amazing results with a GK-3 and VG-99. Tweaked like crazy of coarse

The You Rock Guitar works really well, I have to say. It´s really not (only) a toy. Lots of features that make sense like open tunings and such.
It´s flawlessly recognized and powered when plugged in.

The fretboard works great, the "strings" are ok. There´s a tapping mode too which works great.
After some getting used to it you can actually play it like an instrument and its fun. At the price it seems unbeatable.

GK3 on the other hand is the devil! I had it, I tried adjusting it again and again until I wanted to hurt myself. It never ever worked.

I had that exact setup. Freeway SA and Axon. Its shit man . Dont waste your time. VERY glitchy. I put the time in to tweak it as well. Defiantly not a believer in pitch to MIDI.

I think the GK type will be best with electric guitars. piezos that contact the string have a lot of low frequencies that need hi pass filter circuits. also if you have those in string saddles with a whammy, the string loosens on the saddle and the problem gets worse.

The GK work like a radar, that's why they have those two sections per string and they have no low frequency string contact problems.

A Fender Roland ready strat should already be pretty well set up. big problem with triggering midi synths is that people never get the synth to set up in midi mode 4. which is what you need to get independent pitch bend per string.

an Axon with internal sounds probably sets up right. Roland guitar synths probably do too. The GR-55 looks like it could be a good synth.

one other issue is the actual 13 pin cable. they don't have machined pins often and the cable is pretty poor as well. I'm probably going to make a custom one.
