Live Guitar Head Advice needed...

Hey all, My live set-up is based around my studio's Mesa Boogie Dual Rec (Mk1), running into a Marshall 1960BV & 1960A(non-V) cab stack, 16 ohms each, or an orange PPC412 when running a half-stack. I literally only use the clean channel, and a Blackstar pedal for Od/Dist.

Is there a single channel combo or head similar to that channel i could replace the head with so i didn't have to take it out of the studio? Bound to be an amp or two i've not thought of.

Type of music?
Type of venue - pub/club, big stage, etc? Will amp be mic'd?
Stage volume level - how loud does your band play onstage?

All will help get some better answers. Off the top of my head, if you like the Dual Rec clean, why not get another dual rec head used, or a V-Twin rack pre paired with a power amp?

Tough call because the impedence to the power section and the power section of that head plays a part of that sound.Nothing will duplicate it exactly in a single channel as the power supply and current draw for a 2 channel head more tubes will play a part as well in the feel compaired to a single channel head that draws less current on the supply. There are too many variables. The best thing to do would be to look for a single channel clean amp with good headroom and not to expect it to be exact.I have a Hiwatt 100 and a Roccaforte custom one off with 1 stage of gain and a massive power section. Those are my pedal amps.

Test out a hughes and kettner matrix 100 head. 3 channell,I know, but the clean one is excellent, plus you'll have power, effects and its not big money.

good luck.
