H3000 for guitar..

So I have an odd question here..
Obviously, lots of people used H3000s in guitar rigs. I have one for studio use, but I want to use it to do some really odd pitch effects (similar to a Whammy pedal) on guitar.

I hooked up an expression pedal to a Ground Control and got it all hooked up - and it works... but it works POORLY. MIDI only has 128 values, but I'm trying to smoothly sweep a full octave (1200 cents).. so it's REALLY jumpy.

How do I get smooth sweeps with an expression pedal.. or ANY MIDI control, for that matter?

if you can get it to respond to a midi pitch bend from a keyboard via its midi in, then having something that sends that control signal from a pedal as a midi pitch bend control should do it.

midi pitch bend is much higher resolution.

The Moog CF251 might be a great solution for this problem and a lot of others you might have!

Thanks for the suggestions.. I actually ended up using a VST called 'whamdrive' that emulates a Whammy pedal. It's decent - and it did what I needed it to do (it was just for one particular part in a song).

Why doesn't Digi just re-make the original Whammy if they're so sought after? I mean.. 6-800 on ebay?! That's nuts.

They lost the relationship with the programmer and haven't been able to replicate the same sound and feel with other chips/programmers. I'd imagine the price to reissue goes up year by year as the original programmer sees what his work is going for...

Was it IVL? Didn't they do the chips/software for the various digitech pitch processors back then?

I doubt you'd be able to get the chips any longer to remake the original. I thought they already do a re-issue in any case. They also have it in the GNX units on their DNA chips. it actually sounds ok to me. but the original was pretty well made thats for sure.
