Fender Acoustasonic Tele

Has anybody used one yet and do you have any opinions on it?

I know there has been criticism on the lack of a bridge pickup, but that's not a concern for me at the moment.

I'm looking for opinions on the quality of the acoustic sound in particular. Thanks!

don't know if this is useful as its not first hand experience or my own opinion.

but when the local tech was fixing my tele i asked him about the one on the wall behind him and his comments were that if you want a tele, don't get it, if you want an acoustic don't get it.

if you want a good sounding electric guitar with the ability to blast out a couple of acoustic numbers in a set without switching guitars then its pretty good.

not very useful as i can't back up these claims.

I tried one.

I really like it but I am mostly interested in playing jazz with a bit of an acoustic capability.
I wouldn't want it to be my only acoustic or only tele though.
A nice compromise though.

The acoustic/electric sounds were on par with my Maton.
I reckon they did a great job.

Wow, really impressed!

Just bought the fender acoustasonic tele in olympic white and am really impressed! I got it for live use for which it excels. I prefer playing electrics but with a duo singer and guitar an electric did not cut it without a bass, getting in the way of the vocals whereas an acoustic sound fills out the bass an complements the vocal. What is brilliant is you can mix acoustic into pa and electric through an amp and bring up or down the electric sound according to the dynamics of the song. Also the stereo sound provides a huge sound stage; a bit like parallel compression the electric will fill out some of the mids and sustain and can be effected for some huge sounds. Wall of sound without getting in the way. It's beautifully made and resonates differently to a normal tele due to the acoustic like bridge and chambered body and higher string gauge with wound third so it's really in another world and very complementary to all other guitars. I don't miss the bridge pickup, when set to mono playing through a hiwatt dr103 the acoustic pickup adds enough his to balance the neck. Truely unique instrument and highly recommended!
