Best Non Classic Rock Distortion Pedals

I'm looking for the best non classic rock sounding distortion pedal. List your favorites...

To give a little info, I play an G&L Asat through a Matchless Chieftan, usually with a keely tubescreamer. I have no problem getting great overdrive sounds. I recently picked up a fulldrive 2 mosfet, fulltone gt500, fulltone octafuzz, and a zvex distortron for demoing in my studio. All are ok, but still rather classic rock sounding to my ears. Maybe I'm nuts. None of them really hit that modern/alternative rock sound. The gain is probably there, but not the right tone. ???

To clarify - Big Muff Pi, not Muff Fuzz.

I'd say fuzz pedals and amp distortion are the sound of alternative music, which is course is a very vague term.

What do you mean by modern alternative? If you mean all the mainstream rap metal that is being made today the answer will be quite different from 90's Soundgarden or 00's White Stripes.

You want to try something different get a Fuzz/tone bender. They are a blast to play...noisy, but fun.

Fender blender is supposed to be what Corgan uses.

jacques batfuzz is pretty cool and definitely doesn't have a tubescreamer vibe. check out the WMD geiger counter for crazy crazy tones!!!!
