Thread Starter | Packaging of a guitar at UPS store? Hi, I am trying to verify if a quote from an ebay seller for a packaging price is realistic. Seller is in US, I am in Germany, therefore it is difficult for myself to verify. Electric guitar in a gigbag, packaged at a UPS store (wrapped in air cushion foil, big cardboard box filled with these polystyrene chips - don't know the correct English term). Only packaging price necessary, will be packaged at UPS, but shipped via USPS, and the shipping price for that is already clear. Anybody can tell? At least approximately? (US$ <50, 50-100, >100...) Thanks! |

| I have no idea about international shipping rates, but shipping a musical instrument takes considerable care. Just make sure the guitar is insured for full replacement value. If this is a fine guitar, I'd be really tempted to consider the additional cost for a hard shell flight case.

| This can get expensive, as you have 4 cost factors: packaging, international shipping, and international duties where applicable and insurance. Could be $50-$100 all in. I'd suggest if the seller doesn't have a case to: Take the strings off the guitar to eliminate neck tension Put the guitar in shrinkwrap/plastic bags Bubble wrap Put in first box with significant cushion around neck and headstock Bubblewrap that box Put in final box Insure. Good luck
