Thread Starter | new Acoustic amps hey everyone. I'm kinda curious about the reliability of the new Acoustic amps. I'm REALLY glad to see these coming back due to Jaco being a big influence of mine, and I know they are now owned by Guitar Center. check them out: Bass Amplifiers & Effects, Bass Amplifiers, Acoustic at Guitar Center. the price, while an incredible selling point, is not the main reason I'm interested in these amps. the tone of these things are AMAZING! I actually preferred the sounds I was getting to these amps over the Ampeg SVT Classic that I was playing right before I moved over to the Acoustic stuff. I'm going to end up modifying my bass to run it in stereo and bi-amping my rig to send my lows to one amp and high/mids to another. at least the top end amp will be Acoustic. but the price is kind of throwing me. while it's a great price, and great sound, and all, I'm wondering if anyone can give me any input on the reliability/durability of these amps. will it end up being like the GM of amps where it's amazing on the show room floor, and even for the first few months, but they slowly fall apart? or have they been pretty solid for the majority of owners out there? |

Thread Starter | also, would anyone know who makes the speakers that are in the Acoustic cabinets? I REALLY like the way their 10's sound, and I'd like to see if that speaker manufacturer makes a 15", but can handle more power. and would it be ok running an old 320 head through a new Acoustic B410? I know those 320 heads have a reputation for being LOUD. |

| There are actually two Acoustic Control companies at the moment; the company you're referring to is owned by Guitar Center and those amps are made in China. The other company is called Acoustic USA, and they are staying true to the original Acoustic Control designs. When Acoustic Control closed its doors, the name and rights were acquired by Acoustic's Mexico distributor, who eventually sold the Acoustic name to Samick. Samick built a few units and recently sold the name to Guitar Center, but not before allowing Acoustic USA the right to reintroduce some of the original units. So if you're looking for an amp to continue the heritage of the original Acoustic amps, that would be Acoustic USA. If you're looking for a nice sounding, low cost Chinese amplifier, with the Acoustic logo, that would be the ones sold at Guitar Center. But, the GC Acoustic amps have no connection to the original company, except for the name. No one from the original Acoustic Control company was consulted or involved in any way with the design of the GC amps.
