did anyone get a reply?
i ordered a cover from them, and then i realised it was the wrong one, and i emailed to cancel it, and shaun dunk asked if i wanted to switch it, i emailed no, i just wanted to cancel the order.
i really should have emailed to confirm that it was cancelled (as mail yahoo didnt say email bounced), and what happens a month later?
i get an email from silverstone to say that the item has been disptached.
so i've emailed customer services, tech, and sales to ask what was going on, but no reply.
so i emailed again to say that i wanted to start the returns procedure.
needless to say, i havent has a reply.
so i email again to day that its been recieved, and i want to start the returns procedure, and it seems my email has been bounced as i am blacklisted..
anyone thought of contacting strading standards? as this is not acceptable from a company which takes longer than stated to disptach their items, and extreamly poor customer suppoer/response.

I just had to send a fax to my bank to try and get a credit card refund for a non existent cover. How I wish I'd seen this thread back in March!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!

Similar Experience

Before reading this thread, I placed an order for an amp cover in late April. After paying for the item and for the obligatory $30.60 for 48-hour air freight, I received an email stating that it would take up to 5 business days to process and receive my order. Three weeks later, I had not received the order, so I sent email inquiries to each of several email addresses that I had for Silverstone. Some of the email attempts bounced back because the addresses had been "blacklisted," according to the Yahoo mail server. Days passed and I received no reply. Only after I filed a PayPal claim (thank you, PayPal!), did I receive an email response from Mr. Silverstone Amps. He indicated that my order must've been lost in the mail, but that he couldn't generate a new one within the timeframe that PayPal had given him. Only at the end of the dispute period did PayPal refund my money, no thanks to the customer service efforts of Silverstone. Based on my experiences, I could not recommend this company to anyone else. Such a shame, because I like the vintage look of the amp covers.

Silverstone Ampcover nightmare

Yup, I can certainly confirm my own appalling experience. I ordered my cover in January and at time of writing (July) it still hasn't arrived. Got the apparently common lie that it must have gone missing in the post; he'll raise it with the post office, etc. etc. I'll make you a new one soon (had that two months ago and that hasn't arrived either)
Seems to me the guy is a crook. I writing to trading standards now and we'll see if that accomplishes anything.

I am having the same experience - When I chased the order: Shaun stated that the cover had been manufactured and dispatched and that he would chase his courier and get back to me - I heard nothing again so I sent a further e-mail (today) and tried to contact him by phone. No response to e-mail yet and having tried to phone at least ten times (initially i got the "you cant leve a message call back later" message! and then an engaged/dead line tone. This is now in the hands of my credit card company. I cant afford to give that kind of money away.

Silverstone scam

I guess I am now a member of the "Shaun Dunk Scam Club". I ordered a cover for my Laney LX120 TWIN two months ago. I have received nothing. I emailed him at least 3 dozen times and got the "It was mailed out weeks ago" and "I will check with the postal service to see what happened and if that doesn't work I'll make you a new one and mail it Fedex" run around. He won't even answer my email now. What's up with this guy? Is that the way he conducts business? I guess he laughed all the way to the bank with my $90 (US). I will never deal with this company again and if I ever make a trip to the UK I think I will stop by and say; "Hello" or something he doesn't want to hear. STAY FAR AWAY FROM SILVERSTONE AND SHAUN DUNK!!!!!!

Hello,

Like everyone else I've been victim of his fraud. I could this bloody fxxxxx Shaun... Because I'm from Belgium I can't make a formal complaint via authorities. In case someone else is intrested to get his money back he can report if he lives in UK: http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/report_fraud

Maybe if we all react, some action will be taken...

Success

Silvertone ampcovers- my experience might help

Hi guys,

A newbie here but hopefully my experience re this will help somebody. Placed an order at end of June as i had picked up a red ltd edition Vox AC15C1 so wanted an all singing and dancing red cover with piping, pockets etc.Few weeks passed- nothing- as i've been ripped off countless times now over the years, decided to Google and lo and behold..so email correspondence went as follows-must point out that I sent this to 3 email addresses from their website and received a reply from ampcovers@btconnect.com.

1)Dear Mr Dunk,

Re this order, I have tried to phone you countless times and have e-mailed you re the whereabouts of my order which was placed on June 30th 2011.

As i have had no reply, Googled a bit and was dismayed to find these:

Silverstone Amp Covers - Basschat.co.uk

Basschat.co.uk > Avoid Silverstone Amp Covers

Silverstone Amp Covers NOT RESPONDING!?!?!?

..no way to run a business, mate!!

Can I draw your attention to the following from the 'Legal' part of your website:

'The customer may cancel the contract...if the goods are unobtainable within 28 days of placing the order.'

As I am not expecting the goods to be with me by tomorrow, then I am cancelling the order and i request a full refund asap to my credit card.

I have already contacted my bank to initiate this.

However, as I am fair-minded, if you contact me within 24 hours and inform me of the status of my order, then fine.

If not, I will take this as far as I can, including Trading Standards, local Nuneaton press etc etc until I get a full refund.

2) THE REPLY:
Sorry for the delay.
I had no idea the cover had not been delivered.
Absolutely not trying to scam you and more than happy to refund you.
DPD collected your cover about three weeks ago and I will contact them right now.
If there are any issues and if this is ok with you I will make a replacement cover.
There should be enough red, all my suppliers are on shut down.
However if you have already filed for a charge back there is no point.
Please let me know what you would like to do.
You are so right it is no way to run a business and to be honest there isn't really a business in it.

3) MY RESPONSE:
I've not filed yet for a refund as the procedure is they send me a form to fill in first.

So obviously as I run a business myself I will give you the benefit of the doubt and will wait for my cover as apparently they are worth waiting for, which is why it is so disappointing that all that is going on

You've obviously got a decent product and a great website-two pluses- I imagine you've burned a few bridges and the power of the web is such that once the mud slings, it sticks so if there isn't a business in it then that may be to blame

However, i appreciate the prompt reply ( an example of good customer service!) and therefore will give you a chance to sort it out

You should google 'Lyle caldwell' to see an example of someone who burned many people for $000's but apparently is back on track altho' his reputation is so damaged he may never recover, but at least he is attempting to right his wrongs

I do hope you can turn it around or try to find a buyer- an 'under new management' /change of name might save it- don't forget can't get original Vox covers for AC15C1 etc in Uk as far as I know-why don't you approach them to be official supplier?

Anyways, I'll keep an eye out for it-please e-mail me with an update of status

4) AND OF COURSE I HEARD NOTHING, SO FIRED OFF THIS:

As it is now nearly 3 weeks since your e-mail and i haven't heard from you or received the cover, can you please let me know if the cover is coming my way?

If not, can you please be honest enough to refund my CC, as you say below you will be 'more than happy' to refund me!

I will take an extremely dim view of things if i find that as in some of the blogs, you reply once and are never to be heard from again!!! or at least until there are threats of further action.

My amp is 2 months old and I desperately need a cover for it- please play ball and let me know either way

5) THE REPLY:
Sorry a bit confused you.
I thought you had agreed to change colour.
I have just made a black cover with red piping and stitching and was shipping this out today.
Did you not want this cover now?

6) MY RESPONSE:If you look at the e-mails below which is a total sum of our communication , where is any mention of changing colour? You said ' there should be enough red'...however, if there is a black cover with red stitching that is for a Vox AC15C1 ready to ship, I will accept that- then i can put this sorry saga to an end

7) THE REPLY: Ok thank you I will ship it today.

8) MY RESPONSE:Please do, and i hope you can turn things around!

I look forward to receiving it-which courier-can you send me a tracking number, please?

9) THE REPLY: I give you my word it will workout in the end.
Please except my apologise for the mix up and delay.

..and from there, i received a DPD email with tracking number, and got my cover- barely fits and is a bit long so I wonder if it was for a AC15C1 at all but there's no way now I'm sending it back etc. Sorry for the long windedness of this but it really pisses me off when people get ripped off and I've become quite militant in trying to get wrongs righted. I also contacted DPD initially after his first e-mail, and obviously no record of anything. There is a local rag, Nuneaton News which may run a story. also, consumerdirect-southwest.gov.uk is another avenue, but I know if you are overseas the odds are heavily stacked against you...Good luck, and hope this is of help!

Appalling service from Shaun Dunk at Silverstone

I too have had this same experience and same excuses. I ordered my cover in January 2011 and still, in September, have not received either it or a refund.
I've escalated to the local Trading Standards and they've even been to visit him but still nothing.
Seven times he has emailed to say it was lost in the post and he'll "....go to the post office tomorrow and get a claim form; in the mean time I'll make you another...."
As far as I am concerned he's a thief; he has taken my money and not supplied a product. Way beyond poor service.

My advice is don't touch.

Shawn Dunk, Silverstone, at it again in 2011!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but here is another hideous example of Shawn Dunk of Silverstone amp covers utter incompetence and disregard for customers even now in 2011. I am amazed he is still in business, if you can call it that.

I have been waiting for almost 6 weeks now for a cover that apparently takes 7 days to make. Heres an example of some of the emails.... there were lots more, but I have trimmed them down as it is grim, arduous reading tutt

Read from the bottom to the top:
_________________________________________________________
>Ok to be crystal clear, yes I want refunding. The reason I asked for the tracking number is that you stated "Another cover has been made and will be collected tomorrow by Yodel.". You also said you would email me yesterday regarding the refund. Again you have neither made/sent the cover or refunded me, contrary to everything you have stated. Why? Do you want paying for nothing Mr Dunk, as that is all you have actually done?

I used your company as it was recommended to me by a colleague at the Guitar Institute in London. He has since changed his view of how you conduct business and will no longer be recommending you in future, and due to this debacle, neither can I recommend you. Thanks for wasting my time and giving me over a month of concern and disapointment. The forms to report a potental fraud have no been sent to the bank, as I have lost faith in ever receiving a refund or the cover without a struggle.

Hello xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry for the delay.
Your cover should of been made and delivered.
Tomorrow I will investigate and see why you have not received your cover.
In the mean time I will refund you.

Why the delay of over a month Mr Dunk? Do you have any intention of sending the cover or returning my money as I requested? And why are my messages bounced back to me?
______________________________________________________
______________________________________________________

So to recap, I received no cover, I contacted Shaun Dunk several times, I was ignored, I persisted until I received a reply to my request for a refund, then Dunk stated that another cover had been made and sent, I asked for a tracking number then was told 'I thought you wanted a refund' so obviously he lied that he made and sent a cover in the first place (!). I am still waiting for a refund.

I am fully intending to pay him a visit to get what is owed to me if I get no joy, in fact I almost hope he doesnt refund me so I have the excuse to see him in person. Like the look of the covers? Don't get suckered in. AVOID

Success!

Ok a final update! After LOTS of emails (DOZENS!), mostly ignored, Dunk probably got sick of the constant asking for my money back, realised I wasn't going to give in and complied! Well, partly complied, he didn't give me the full amount back, he pocketed £4 for himself of a £58 transaction. No big surprise, going by his usual behaviour.

However after all the grief he caused me I still (strangely!) consider this a win for me, and hopefully should serve as a warning to others- DONT DEAL WITH DUNK! At best, he's lazy, incompetent and a liar. At worst he's a thief and a major pain in the arse. You may get lucky and get a cover, but thats out of your hands, it's up to him.

Yes, the covers look good and are probably well made, but what's the point if you never get what you pay for and spend the next couple of months being lied to and fighting to get your money back?

Incredibly, he's still in business after all these years and in fact seems to have even expanded into 'drum thrones' as he calls them. He was probably able to do this with the money he's accumulated from all the people he has ripped off over the years. Hopefully people will read this thread and put him out of business, because he really doesn't deserve one.

I am afraid that I have had an terrible experience with this company too. I am £50 down on the deal with no cover to show for it and loads of ignored emails. I am still sending regular emails, all of which are being ignored, I have even sent letters recorded delivery and spoken to trading standards. Still no reply, no amp cover and no refund.

Silverstone Drum Thrones

Well, like so many others, I wish I had seen this thread before. Shaun Dunk has started in on the drum business. He has set up Silverstone Drum Thrones and is selling a highly desirable leather throne. I have been in conversation with him since Sept/Oct. At first very chatty. Then nothing. Finally he puts my 'custom' order on his website (Leather Drum Throne Systems) and I pay him. I can get NO response from him at all after over two weeks of trying. I am resolved to go up there and get either money or throne.

His stuff is being photographed in Drummer and Rhythm magazines and generating a lot of interest in what is a fab product. But it seems the guy has issues.

Stop trading with Silverstone Amp Covers!!!

I wish I has seen this thread before I ordered.

The company is no longer trading at the address on the website. Their phone number is disconnected. The landlord has been inundated with calls...the told me my call was about Silverstone before I got a word in!

Their forwarding address of Holly Farm, Nuneaton was bogus.

The only details I've found is a residential address from 2 years ago for Shaun Dunk - it's 105 southbank road coventry cv6 1fb.

I've contacted their web pay company to advise that they may be handling fraudulent business.

Be warned folks.....

Dear Mr Shaun Dunk of Silverstone Amp Covers

Taking money and not fulfilling orders from a dodgy website with non existent contact details. I have now discovered that this is how you have been operating for a long time. As a business owner myself people like you make me sick. I don't want your usual excuses that you have quite a reputation for making, I want a refund, which my credit card company will now have to do.

The Banks, Sage Pay and Warwickshire Trading Standards are all investigating your activities. I have also added this to the musicians forums where your dodgy activities have been reported for the last few years to try and stop others being conned by you. I just wish I had seen the forums before placing my order with you.

Hopefully you will get shut down soon.

Silverstone Amp Covers Rogue Trading

Just to update my previous post this is the response from Evans Easy Space where Silverstone Amp Covers is still claiming to be trading from.

"I can confirm that Silverstone Amp Covers are no longer operating from the Evans Business Centre in Nuneaton and left our premises in early November. Unfortunately I am unable to pass on any contact details we have for them due to data protection regulations. We would of course fully co-operate with the police or trading standards over this matter should we be contacted by them so I would therefore recommend that you contact Consumer Direct on 08454 040506 to report the company. As a potential victim of fraud, you may also want to contact the national fraud reporting centre, Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or Home | Action Fraud

In line with the Business Centre association guidelines for ‘squatters’ at our business centre, I will be completing a suspicious activity report to the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

I am sorry that we cannot be of further help at this time.

Kind Regards (Name removed for privacy) Regional Manager, Evans Easyspace Ltd "

I would just repeat do not trade with this company.

I paid for 2 covers on 4th October and got only two replies to all my mails. The last on 26th October, when Shaun Dunk promised me the covers had been made and shipped. Since then I have received nothing. Not my money back, nor the items. Obviously he does not respond to mails anymore. Thief! I tried to report this man to the UK police, auctionfraud and many other sites, but nothing happened. Did anyone manage to get a refund or to receive the covers? How?

silverstone amp covers update

New to the form but wanted to put the other side. These covers are fantastic. Yes, the service is a little slow sometimes but I've now had 3 covers with no problems and they have always responded to me emails requesting updates. I guess sometimes we have to patient sometimes for a unique product? I sympathise with anyone who had had problems but I'm just putting another side across. Not all bad and well worth the wait.

If only I had read this forum before I ordered from Silverstone.

I placed my order on November 7th 2011. I had an email confirming and giving me an order number straight away. The money went straight out of my bank account. Since then, numerous phone calls have never been answered, and neither have any of my emails. I finally sent one today threatening legal action as it might only be 40 quid but it's MY 40 quid.. Steer well clear.

I only stumbled upon this thread now. Too late unfortunately.
I have had exactly the same experience last year. Money taken, a few e-mails then nothing. Fifty quid gone for nothing.

Same problem here, I ordered an amp cover for a Vox AC15C1 on the 9th Feb, my money was taken on the 10th Feb and to date I have received nothing. Shaun ignored all of my emails asking for a status update on my order and only promising to look into it when I threatened to take action and emailed every email address they have.

That was 6 days ago and I have heard nothing back and I'm into the 5th week since placing my order. So I have now given up on them and taken action to recover my money.

This guy and this company refuse to communicate effectively with their customers and as such should be AVOIDED AT ALL COST!!!

OK in the end

Let me tell you my experience: I've had an amp cover from Silverstone before - probably around 2008/9. I thought it was a great product and had no recollections of problems with the company.

SO I bought a new amp (Blues Junior III, since you ask!) and immediately ordered another from Silverstone. I specked it to my liking, extra pocket and piping etc, then waited...after about 3 weeks - nothing. A polite nudge by e-mail...no reply. A slightly sharper e-mail...still nothing.

So I googled the company and surfed in on this thread. I immediately feared the worst. I gave them another e-mail, this time pretty angry, thinking (on the strength of some comments here) that I'd lost my £50. Anyway, I DID get a reply from Shaun re the "mix up" and he promised to resolve it immediately.

Lo and behold, my cover turned up today, 2 days after he replied to me!

SO I have mixed views - the cover is very nice and no complaints at all in that department. The customer service, once I got a bit angry, was pretty quick and he was true to his word. But I really can't explain how someone can run his business like this on the edge - clearly causing serious damage to his reputation along the way. It is a real shame as I like the product and love to buy British.

Would I order again...mmmm, not sure, which is a real shame. I'll check back here and see if the feedback starts to improve.
