disconnecting speakers

would disconnecting the speakers on an Orange rockerverb combo and using the output from the effects send hurt the amp? Id rather monitor the sound via my minitors and not have the amp blaring needlessly.

Never run a tube amp without a proper load on it... very, very bad.

so aside from a guitar cable that stretches interstate, I gotta deal with a blaring amp next to me while tracking?

Could build/buy a Load/Attenuator box, it puts the proper load on the amp (8 Ohm) but reducing the level to the speaker.
The down side to this is some speakers produce their best sound cranked a little...

I built one of these for a guy and it worked pretty good...

something like that would be perfect! Im not micing the amp, Im using IR's to recab the guitars. Do you have a Link to an attenuator box perhaps?

Don`t disconnect anything. If you want to use the "effects send" you`re only using the orange`s preamp, not the power. Soooo, send an effects out to a DI and them to your micpre/interface. Just keep the master volume of the amp on 0, it`s speaker will still receive the load, you`re safe to go and quiet.

I wish this amp worked that way. The preamps output seems to be directly related to the volume control. The amp is brand new and works/sounds great. As a test I cranked the gain but had the volume at zero, ran into my pre and nothing. Guitar into the input, and a cable going from the send straight to my pre into my DAW. Zilch.

Use a long speaker cable.. keep the head by you and put the cabinet in the next room. Mic the cabinet, you'll thank yourself for it later. IR speaker cabinets aren't quite the same (they can be a good fix if you don't have a good amp, but you do).
