James, amazing shootout...thank you so much!

Regarding the Framus Cobra...to my ears, based upon your clips, that thing is without a doubt the most brutal distortion i have ever heard...like good Lord what is happening to the earth brutal distortion! Is that indeed what it was like from your perspective? I was pretty much set on trying to figure out how to get my hands on a Herbert, but am starting to think the Cobra is what i'm looking for (i need crushing distortion for metal head clients).

i can't stop listening to that clip!

Man I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. One of the best experiences of my life, very fun but a lot of work...Wow. It was no joke, a couple of 100 hours went into it total; cab selection, speaker selection, pickup and guitar selection, video and audio clips etc.... Spared no expense.

@James:

So is it possible (and if so where and how) to get hold of a Marsha?

Man that sounds amazing!

Do you know what was done to that modded Sovtek Mig 60?

Is a stock one going to sound anything like that?

It compared pretty favorably with the Marshall-style amplifiers!

Wow. Thank you very much for doing all that and making the clips available!

Scumback cab and WCR pickups, too. You are the consummate slut, James.

The Diezel VH4 is absolutely CRUSHING in the mix for the drop tuned song.

It's been a few weeks since I watched the vids and have forgot what kind of cabinet was used and what kind of speakers. Anyone remember?

Scumback cab with 3 Scumback M75 (65 watters) and 1 V30. The files are a blend of M75 and V30.

James. We all know the huge undertaking that this was. But now that you have settled on the Friedman modded-Marshalls and a Diezel is there any way of hearing the difference between the Vintage 30 and the M75? I'm just guessing that the Scumbacks are a little looser? But I am curious to see if an X pattern V30/M75 might not be in my future.

And by the way, what pups did you decide to keep in the shootout? I know the Rebel Yell was one of them.

FYI - contestant amplifier "Tritone 100" was a prototype for the brand-new company, 3RD POWER Amplification.

You can find them at: 3RD POWER AMPLIFICATION

WOW!!! Thanks James for this incredible effort! This was invaluable for me right now...I am about to spend about 2k on my first real amp! I really like the Rivera Knucklehead Reverb and the JCM800...Do you remember the exact version of the rivera? its the new one right? 55 or 100 watts?

Thanks very much again! Amazing!

Of the new Riveras - I like the Knucklehead Reverb KR7 the best (the Slipknot Mick Thompson amp).. it has a crazy wide range of tones.
