Thread Starter | Marshall 9001 guitar pre amp, should I?
So I have come upon a used Marshall 9001 guitar pre for sale at my local music shop. I have always wanted to have access to that Marshall tone. I have a Mesa at home, and I really want to experiment with combining both marshall and mesa tones together on recordings. Plus, its going for cheap. My plan for the time being is to run the marshall pre through my mesa's power section. Eventually, I would look into getting a seperate power amp for the marshall pre, but for now, I don't want to drop too much cash. I also like the idea of it being portable. I could take it down to a rehearsal space that has some amps and speaker cabs already there. I guess the question is, how good is the 9001 pre? Will it give me that marshall tone? Or should I pass on it. Thanks for your time. |
