Help me choose a keyboard for gigging

Will be used primarily for live shows. Here's what I want:

--76 keys is ideal
--Keys that are weighted or semi-weighted (I played the 61-key Korg X50, and it couldn't have felt any more flimsy and cheap).
--Good pianos, wurlys, rhodes, B3

Don't care a bit about onboard sequencing or sampling, but I may have to pay for that stuff to get a well-built box.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Korg M50 synth felt like a piece of JUNK and Im a KORG guy here

Grab a Yamaha S90ES and youll be happy, full 88 keys and it feels GREAT!!!

Im a PIANO guy here BTW

I played just today:

Yamaha Motif XS 88
Yamaha S90 ES
Korg M3 88
Roland Fantom G8
Roland RD700GX
M-Audio, the whole line of controllers

If you like a Steinway the Rolands are the way to go cause thats what they feel like.
Yamaha and Korg felt similar but I liked the Yamaha better(felt a little more solid).

Youll be hard pressed to find a weighted board in a 76 key version. Nord makes one I believe

I have TWO Korg boards Im going to sell if your interested. Korg 01W/76 with a soft case . Korg Triton Studio Pro 76 with soft case PM me if interested. Both are MINT BTW, smoke free, never played out, home studio use only. Triton has never been used as i bought it to replace the O1W and never played out again

I've been debating the same thing... I currently own a Yamaha P60 Electronic Piano. It has weighted keys and feels awesome. The problem is that I want to join a cover band and I need something much more versatile. Would you recommend similar boards for this purpose? This will be my first "Real" Keyboard and I don't know what to look for or how much to spend...

Do you need an onboard sequencer? If not you can save some dough there.

You could always just get any synth to set up on a top tier and your Yamaha on the bottom tier and midi them together as long as your Yammy has a midi out youd be cool.
I used a clavinova for years with a little BOSS synth box midied to it, worked great.

Took a look at that Nord board-- 73 and 76 key versions. They're expensive but I've always thought they sounded great.

First off thanks guys... And I don't mean to highjack this thread if you'd prefer I could start a new one. I just felt it was on topic.

I don't need a sequencer now... Will I kick myself later for deciding against it?

How do you "Midi" them together? What does that do? I have midi on my yamaha which I use with my songwriting software to transcribe songs and write my own.

My biggest concern is that lots of songs have two or more keyboard sounds and maybe I would bring my Yamaha and a (Insert new keyboard here) to have two boards to work with. But I've been told by all my friends in cover bands that the less gear the better. Keep in mind I would also have to bring my guitars and amps.

I know cheap Casios used to have a feature to split the board between two sounds. Is this available on a quality board? (This could eliminate the need for two boards) Sorry for my ignorance I've been playing for over 10 years and I've only gone shopping for a keyboard one time.

By the way what is a Boss Synth box? Is it a guitar pedal? What kind of inputs does it have?

I'm not a keyboard player but every time I hear a great Piano or B3 sound on stage it ended being a NORD (when it wasn't the real thing I mean). I just auditioned a new keyboard player for my fun band and he came in with a 2 keyboard NORD that does only Organ sounds. I own a Hammond C3 but I gotta tell you his NORD blew me away. However he did say its not only the NORD but you need a good amp as well.

Hey I was in the same boat as yo and wanted a nice weighted keyboard but did not want to pay the earth.
Have you checked out the Korg SP-250.
The weighted keys is fairly nice and better than most in the AUS $1000-1500 bracket and the sounds are quite passable.
The total weight of the keyboard was a lot less than my Roland 88 note.
Cheers
