Plate Reverb in a pedal

Hi guys,

I've always loved the sound of an old plate reverb... and recently I've been recording in studio with an EMT 140 so now I have a new problem
What's your favorite plate sound in a pedal? Is there anything REALLY good out there?

thanks for the help and take care!

I've never seen a setting specifically labeled "plate" on a reverb pedal, although there could be one that I don't know about. You'd probably have to opt instead for something like a digital rack unit (lexicon, etc) if you want a plate model.

One of the Electro Harmonix Holy Grail pedals might give you something close though. I really like their spring emulation, and there are a few other settings (hall, etc) on each pedal.

My Dr Scientist - Radial Red Reverberator has three plate settings as well as a few rooms and halls.

I have the Digitech Hardwire and I think it's great. It has a Plate setting and it sounds pretty good. I'm not really thrilled with digital effects for my guitar - I've swapped out my Boss effects for analog ones - but I'm really happy with the Hardwire and I plan on keeping it around.

the closest in terms of providing true analog pedal verb is probably the vanamps solemate spring verb.

+1 for the T-REX ROOMATE...EXCELLENT plate vibe though nothing will duplicate a real plate 100% and nothing sounds like it added from an fx send off a console after a mic/preamp/eq/comp... verses between your guitar and amp.On the cheap..the holy grail or the holier grail reverb by electro harmonix is very swimming like...very plate like.

Good luck
