Thread Starter | Value of an old deluxe reverb? Down the road from me is a guitar/amp shop with so much stuff I don't see how he keeps up with it all. Well I was in there the other day and he has a 1972 silverface deluxe reverb. It sounds great (with the bass on 10 and the treble on about 4) but the looks leave a lot to be desired. It also has what appears to be the original Jensen speaker in it. He is asking like $1500 for it. I was thinking about taking some of my stuff I have for sale in the classified section and see if I could work up some kind of trade. I don't know. Is an old silverface worth that kind of money? Just looking for some advice, Thanks, Len |

Thread Starter | Thanks for the input. After I posted I went over to ebay and found numerous silverface deluxe reverbs in much better shape going for the $800 to $1100 range. I was thinking if I could trade some stuff I don't use and can't sell (Line6 Pod Pro XT w/shortboard, Alesis effects units, ect...) it might not be to bad of a deal. Just so you get an idea of this guys pricing he has a used stock epiphone valve jr head for $174.00. You can get it brand new for $150. And I already have a Carr Rambler 1x12 combo. Thanks, Len |

I've known this one vintage dealer for, oh, around 25 years now, who prices everything sky high. I bought an ordinary guitar from him for a regular price around 20 years ago. But, since then, as cool as he is about letting me play his great stuff, he's so over-the-top in pricing that there's just nothing to talk about. I think he just likes his gear too much to part with it. Some people are that way.

Thread Starter | Thanks again. I really do like the Rambler but I want to replace the speaker. It has the Kingpin 60 in it and the speaker breakup is to out front. Which is more noticed when playing humbuckers through it. Not so much with the tele but still more than I want. Any suggestions on speakers? As far as the guy's pricing, he has an old Gibson Les Paul Traditional Gold Top w/P-90s he wants $3000. The finish is all cracked and the serial number has been sanded off. Then there is a 72 tele that is in rough shape cosmetically but plays and sounds fine for $3000. Len |
