I like the DynaComp and the Keeley Compressor. Nothing exciting or groundbreaking there.

I recently picked up a JangleBox. It's a great pedal.

I have the Electro Harmonix Black Finger compressor that has the 2 12ax7's in it. It works pretty good but be prepared to take a little time to dial it in. Definitely not as straightforward as some.

I found the Black Finger to be a very big disappointement. It's interesting to know that EH designer Howard Davis , the man who designed the Elecrtic Mistress and Memory Man pedals, thinks so too.

Tubes in pedals are really a questionable concept...

I got the AnalogMan BiComp which is great but I'd be really interested in the Jangle Box, any clips?

i so wanted to like the EH black finger more than i did when i got it
but it felt like a noisier version of a DBX 163 in a pedal
you could dial in 3 levels of compression from 'is it working?' to 'too much' to 'turn it off!'
stamps such a footprint on whatever you run through
so not for you if you want transparency
keeley is a very well made unit and sounds pretty good IMO

Thanks but this is dangerous, Henry Kaiser's quote about getting into Ry Cooder/Lowell George territory with the Jangle Box for slide might increase my need to buy this box VERY soon: JangleBox

yeah....but he also says tube amps are useless. so i would add a serious SPOONFUL of salt to his take on tubes.

ironically i agree with him that tube pedals are largely a gimmick and i do not use any of them myself.

analog non tube pedals into top notch tube amps.....that is the way to go.

I like the Diamond compressor. It's a quality opto comp in a stompbox. It doesn't do the squishy Ross/Orange Squeezer style of compression, but it's great if you're looking to compress without it being obvious. It doesn't mess with the attack of the note. The makeup gain is very clean, so you can use the pedal as a clean boost with or without the compression. And it has a single knob EQ so it will serve as a treble boost. It is always on when I am gigging, gentle compression, some gain, some treble boost. It's good for bass too.

+1 gazillon, no less. The smoothest, creamiest sustain or clackiest chicken-picking twang ever. Mini-bicomp is great too.

The Carl Martin compressor has great versatility and level of control/shaping of the sound. I'd recommend it highly.

I've got the Ross compressor and i really enjoy the sparkle it gives my playing and the squish, it is also like the most expensive option. But i got mine in a trade and my end of the deal was giving him a $50 longboard

Dunno if you're in a hurry or not , but if u are willing to wait , u might think of this pedal

Effectrode Audiophile Effects Pedals | Photo-optical Compressor

If their previous pedals are anything to go by this compressor will blow your socks off .
